Chongli, Zhangjiakou, Hebei, China
Wanlong Ski Resort, opened in 2003, is the oldest and one of the largest of the ski areas clustered around Chongli District in Zhangjiakou, Hebei — the mountain-sports satellite that co-hosted alpine and freestyle events for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Spanning roughly 58 sq km about 250 km northwest of Beijing, it offers 32 trails totaling around 37 km, with a steep skew toward advanced terrain — 22 of its runs are rated advanced or higher, a reputation that has earned it a name for having some of the steepest groomed pistes in China. Six of its runs are FIS-certified, reflecting its role hosting national and international ski training and competition. A gondola and several detachable quad chairlifts serve the mountain, and the resort operates a full winter season from mid-November to early April alongside a smaller dry-slope (artificial mat) area for off-season and beginner use. It has become profitable and well-established enough to be regularly cited as the second-largest ski resort in China after Yabuli.
