Bursa, Turkey
Uludağ, the ancient Mysian Olympus, rises directly above Bursa in northwest Turkey and is one of the country's largest and most accessible ski areas, reachable from Istanbul in about 2.5-3 hours or by an 8-person gondola straight from the city of Bursa. The resort is really a cluster of adjoining hotel-run lift systems inside Uludağ National Park, together running roughly 25 lifts (a mix of gondolas, chairlifts and T-bars) across around 25 marked pistes and roughly 28-35 km of terrain, skewed toward beginner and intermediate skiing. It's a major weekend destination for Istanbul and Bursa day-trippers and package skiers, with dozens of slope-side hotels, night skiing, and a busy après scene, and it hosted CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour stops on the mountain in 2017 and 2018. Its national-park status and long ski history (organized skiing here dates to the early 20th century) make it one of the more storied resorts in the Balkans/West Asia ski scene.
