Arthur's Pass National Park, Canterbury, New Zealand
New Zealand's most access-restricted ski field: there is no road to the base at all, only a roughly 45-minute uphill walk from the Arthur's Pass carpark, with a free goods lift available to haul equipment. Once at the top, three named rope tows (Cassidy, Temple, and Downhill) serve terrain that includes further hike-to backcountry in the Mingha Valley. It also houses the New Zealand Snow Safety Institute.
