Ski Apache

Ski Apache is the southernmost ski resort in the continental United States, rising above Ruidoso on the slopes of Sierra Blanca on land owned and operated by the Mescalero Apache Tribe since 1963. Eleven lifts, including an eight-passenger gondola, spread 55 trails across roughly 750 acres and nearly 1,900 feet of vertical, catching over 15 feet of snow most winters at an elevation that keeps the Southwest's high-desert sun in check. It's a rare pairing — a tribally owned mountain resort delivering genuine high-alpine skiing far south of where most Americans expect to find it.
