Hokkaido, Japan
Sahoro Resort, officially Tokachi Sahoro Resort, sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Sahoro in the Hidaka range of central Hokkaido, near Shintoku Town on the Tokachi plain. It's a mid-sized, all-in-one destination with 8 lifts including a 2.1 km gondola serving 21 courses across a 610-metre vertical drop, with a fairly even mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain and pitches up to about 39 degrees. Sahoro is known in Hokkaido circles for its unusually high share of sunny days relative to the coastal powder resorts, plus tree-run and backcountry-tour access, night skiing, and a Club Med property alongside the operator's own Tokachi Sahoro Resort hotel for genuine ski-in/ski-out stays. It's owned and operated by Kamori Kanko, the same Hokkaido hospitality group behind Rusutsu Resort, and typically runs a roughly four-month season from early December to early April.
