High Atlas Mountains, Morocco · Independent

Oukaïmeden

Oukaïmeden is a small ski area in Morocco's High Atlas Mountains, roughly 70-80km south of Marrakesh near Mount Toubkal, and is widely cited as the highest-altitude ski area in Africa. Skiing takes place on treeless slopes at altitude, served by a handful of surface lifts, with a short season typically running January to March depending on snowfall. The village has increasingly become as well known for summer rock climbing and bouldering as for its winter skiing.
