Naeba Ski Resort

Naeba, in Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture, is one of Japan's most heavily visited ski resorts thanks to a direct Shinkansen connection from Tokyo and near-guaranteed snow cover. Built around the vast Naeba Prince Hotel, the resort climbs from a 900m base to a 1,789m summit — an 889m vertical drop across 16 trails, the longest running 4km, with terrain roughly split between beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs. Naeba's biggest draw for confident skiers is the 5.5km Dragondola, Japan's longest gondola, which links directly into the neighboring Kagura ski area, effectively doubling the terrain accessible on a single lift ticket. Operated by Seibu Prince Hotels & Resorts, Naeba has hosted FIS World Cup slalom racing and remains a fixture of Japan's domestic ski-holiday circuit.
