About an hour north of Ottawa-Gatineau in Quebec's Outaouais region, Mont-Sainte-Marie markets itself as having the highest vertical drop of any ski hill near the capital. Two mountains — Cheval Blanc and Vanier — are served by two high-speed detachable quads and two surface lifts, with terrain skewed toward family-friendly beginner and intermediate runs. Nearly all of its skiable terrain is snowmaking-covered, a hedge against a relatively low-snowfall micro-climate for the region.
