Idaho–Montana border, near Mullan, Idaho, USA · Independent

Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area

Straddling the Idaho–Montana state line directly off Interstate 90, Lookout Pass is one of the very few North American ski areas where lifts and trails cross a state border. It's a historic, family-oriented area (operating since 1935) known for reliably deep, dry snow — averaging over 400 inches a year — spread across five chairlifts and terrain that runs mostly intermediate-to-advanced. A 2022–2023 Eagle Peak expansion added roughly 500 acres of new terrain, growing the hill considerably beyond its long-standing footprint.
