Chuy Region, Kyrgyzstan
Chunkurchak Ski Base sits in the Chunkurchak Gorge of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, about 30-40 km south of Bishkek, making it the closest full ski area to Kyrgyzstan's capital. It is a compact, family-oriented resort with roughly 10 km of marked terrain served by five color-coded chairlifts plus a beginner conveyor, split about evenly between easy and intermediate pitches with a smaller advanced share. The gentle, wide slopes and short drive from Bishkek make it a popular day-trip resort for locals and expats rather than a destination resort, and it also serves as a gateway for backcountry ski touring and freeride into the surrounding gorge. It operates a modest season from roughly late December to mid-March, with basic on-site rental, ski school, and food service.
