Cairngorm Mountain

Cairngorm Mountain is Scotland's highest ski area, located in the Cairngorms National Park near Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands. The Cairngorm Mountain Railway, Britain's highest funicular, climbs from a base of about 660 m to the Ptarmigan station at 1,087 m, just below the 1,245 m summit of Cairn Gorm itself, though skiers reach the pistes via a separate network of surface lifts. The resort offers around 30 km of mostly easy and intermediate pisted terrain and is publicly owned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise. The short, weather-dependent season typically runs from December to April.
