Boyne Mountain Resort is located near Boyne Falls in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. Founded in 1947-49 by Everett Kircher, it is historically significant in North American lift technology, having installed the world's first triple chairlift (1963) and the world's first quad chairlift (1965). Despite a modest 500-foot vertical drop typical of the Midwest, the resort has continued investing in modern high-speed lifts, including an 8-person detachable chair.
