Capital Region, Iceland · Independent
Bláfjöll is Iceland's largest ski area, set in a protected highland roughly 30km southeast of Reykjavík and jointly run by the Capital Region's municipalities. It offers about 15km of mostly easy-to-intermediate alpine terrain across two sectors, Heimatorfa and Suðursvæði, plus marked cross-country trails, with conditions dependent on natural snowfall given its modest, wind-exposed elevation. Night skiing and two staffed huts with restaurants make it a popular short trip from the capital.
