Angel Fire Resort sits above the village of Angel Fire in New Mexico's Sangre de Cristo range, about 25 miles east of Taos. Its 2,077-foot vertical drop is among the longest lift-served drops in the state, spread across 560 acres and roughly 95 runs weighted toward intermediate terrain. Founded in 1966 on former cattle-grazing land, the resort draws heavily from Texas visitors and hosts an annual 'Big Ol' Texas Weekend' celebration alongside a well-known summer mountain-biking program.
