Maluti Mountains, Lesotho · Independent
Afriski Mountain Resort is the only operating ski resort in Southern Africa, located near Mahlasela Pass in Lesotho's Maluti Mountains close to the South African border. It is a small, high-altitude area (around 3,050-3,222 m) served by a drag lift and a rope tow over roughly 1-2 km of short, mostly beginner-to-intermediate slopes, with snowmaking used to supplement natural snowfall. Its ski season runs June to August (Southern Hemisphere winter), and it also operates as a year-round mountain-biking and adventure destination.
