Our Promise

What's free, and what we're not going to do.

No pricing page tricks, no feature that quietly moves behind a paywall next year. Here's exactly where things stand.

What's free right now

Everything. Verified resort and summit data, live weather and avalanche conditions, real trail maps and route info, trip planning, your session log, Community, and Scout — the whole site, no account tier, no usage cap you'll hit mid-trip, no credit card anywhere in the signup flow. That's not an introductory offer; it's the whole product today.

Why we're saying this out loud

Every major app in this category launched with a generous free tier and has since moved pieces of it behind a subscription — offline maps, saved routes, even basic search, in some cases. We're not pretending that could never happen here. PeakSeeker is a small, independent project, and small independent projects sometimes need a way to cover real costs (hosting, data, the AI behind Scout) to keep operating at all. What we're promising isn't "always free forever" — it's how we'll handle it if that ever changes.

If a feature you already rely on ever needs to become paid, we'll tell you plainly, ahead of time, on this page and in the app itself — not roll it out quietly and let you discover it the next time you open the site. And the core promise underneath the data itself doesn't move: verified facts, sourced honestly, with an "unknown" shown as unknown rather than guessed. That part was never going to be the thing we charge for.

What this looks like in practice

If PeakSeeker ever introduces a paid tier, the plan — not a legal commitment, just the actual intent — is that it would sit on top of the free product for people who want more (heavier Scout usage, bigger group trips, that kind of thing), not carve pieces out from under the people already using it for free. The resort and summit directory, weather, avalanche ratings, and the core verified-data pitch this whole site is built on stay free. If that ever stops being true, this page gets updated first, not last.
