Yarigatake

Yarigatake ("Spear Peak") is one of Japan's most iconic mountains, its sharp pyramidal spire earning it the nickname "the Matterhorn of Japan." Four ridges radiate from the summit, and the final approach requires climbers to scale exposed rock using fixed chains and ladders. It sits within Chūbu-Sangaku National Park and is one of Japan's celebrated "Hyakumeizan" (100 Famous Mountains).

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
