Volcán Barú

Volcán Barú is Panama's highest point and its only stratovolcano, a still-active but long-quiet peak rising above the coffee town of Boquete in western Chiriquí Province. On a clear day — most likely at dawn — it's one of the few places on Earth where both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea are visible simultaneously. The mountain and its cloud forest flanks are protected within Volcán Barú National Park, established in 1976.

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
