Thabana Ntlenyana — Sesotho for "beautiful little mountain" — is the highest point in Lesotho and in all of southern Africa, rising from the Mohlesi ridge just north of Sani Pass. Composed of Upper Triassic/Lower Jurassic flood basalt, it lies near the headwaters of the Orange River and is most commonly climbed as a long day hike from Sani Top. Despite its modest-sounding name, it is one of the most topographically isolated summits on the African continent.
