Tabwemasana

Tabwemasana is Vanuatu's highest peak, rising from untouched interior rainforest on west-central Espiritu Santo. Local tradition describes its twin summits as a male and female pair said to embrace at night, and its upper slopes host at least one tree species, Metrosideros tabwemasanaensis, found nowhere else on Earth. Reaching the top remains a serious undertaking — access is by boat followed by a multi-day guided trek — and fewer than half a dozen people summit in a typical year.

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
