South Sister is the tallest and youngest of Oregon's Three Sisters volcanic complex and the third-highest peak in the state. Unlike its more rugged neighbors, it is a non-technical hike-and-scramble to a broad summit crater holding Teardrop Pool, the highest lake in Oregon, and is one of the most heavily climbed peaks in the Cascades, with as many as 400 hikers a day on summer weekends.

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
