Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa

The highest peak in Wales and in the British Isles south of the Scottish Highlands, Snowdon rises above a dramatic horseshoe of ridges and glacial lakes in the heart of Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park. Six well-trodden paths converge on its summit, making it one of the most accessible big mountains in Britain — and, with over half a million ascents a year, also its busiest. A rack-and-pinion railway to the top and a striking summit visitor centre, Hafod Eryri, sit alongside routes ranging from gentle valley paths to the knife-edge Crib Goch scramble.

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.

Photography via Wikimedia Commons under its respective licences — the same sourcing standard as the resort photos elsewhere on the site.
