Sněžka (Śnieżka in Polish, 'Snow Mountain') is the highest peak of the Krkonoše/Karkonosze range and the highest point of both the Czech Republic and the entire Sudetes. The summit sits exactly on the Czech-Polish border and hosts a small chapel, a Polish weather-observatory building, and a Czech post office, reflecting centuries of shared and contested use by both countries. A cable car from Pec pod Sněžkou on the Czech side makes the summit accessible to casual visitors as well as hikers.
