Slieve Donard is the highest peak in Northern Ireland and the highest of the Mourne Mountains, rising directly above the seaside town of Newcastle, County Down. Its granite summit carries two ancient burial cairns — including the highest known passage tomb in Britain and Ireland — and is linked to the neighboring Mournes by the dry-stone Mourne Wall. On a clear day the summit gives views across Belfast Lough, Dublin Bay, and the Isle of Man.
