Rysy is a three-summit mountain straddling the Polish–Slovak border in the High Tatras, and is the single most popular high-altitude hiking objective in Poland since one of its summits is the country's official highest point. The main (middle) summit at 2,501 m is the overall high point of the massif and sits effectively on the border ridge, while a separate north-western summit at 2,500 m — a few dozen meters away — is the true highest point of Poland. The mountain is reached via marked non-technical trails from both the Polish side (Morskie Oko) and the Slovak side (Štrbské Pleso), making it one of the few 2,500 m+ Tatra peaks that can legally be climbed without a certified mountain guide.
