Ras Dashen (Ras Dejen) is the highest mountain in Ethiopia and one of the highest peaks in Africa, forming the eastern rim of an enormous ancient volcanic massif in the Simien Mountains National Park. Its dramatic escarpments and afro-alpine moorlands host endemic wildlife including the gelada baboon and Walia ibex.
