Rising out of dense, roadless Amazon rainforest right on the Brazil-Venezuela border, Pico da Neblina ("Peak of the Mist") is Brazil's highest point — a granite massif so remote and cloud-wrapped that its true summit was not confirmed on Brazilian soil until a 1962 border survey. Reaching it means an eight-day round-trip trek with an accredited local guide through jungle known for onchocerciasis and malaria risk, making it one of South America's most logistically demanding non-technical high points rather than a technical climb.
