Mount Timpanogos

Mount Timpanogos is the second-highest peak in Utah's Wasatch Range and the signature summit above Utah Valley, a long alpine ridge crowned by permanent snowfields and the turquoise bowl of Emerald Lake. It is a non-technical but genuinely strenuous hike, climbing through montane forest and wildflower-filled cirques before a final push across scree and old glacial ice to the summit plateau. The mountain carries an unusually rich hiking culture: for nearly sixty years it hosted one of the largest organized mass hikes in American history. Today it remains one of the most popular — and most heavily managed — day hikes in the Wasatch.

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
