Mount Elbrus is a dormant volcano in Russia's Caucasus Mountains near the Georgian border and is generally recognized as the highest peak in Europe. Its twin snow-and-ice-capped summits rise above the Baksan Valley and are reached mainly by cable car and glacier travel rather than technical climbing.
