Browse all summitsRising above the forested Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary near Ghana's border with Togo, Mount Afadjato (locally Mount Afadja) is popularly celebrated as Ghana's highest mountain and its best-known community-run hiking destination. Its steep, grassy shoulders climb out of the Volta Region's farmland to a narrow summit ridge shared with Togo, with views toward the Wli Falls escarpment on clear days. The mountain's exact height is genuinely disputed: long marketed at 885 m, more recent measurement work puts its true elevation closer to 587 m, with nearby, far less-visited Leklata now considered Ghana's actual highest point. Regardless of that surveying debate, Afadjato remains the summit hikers actually come to climb, reached by a short, steep community trail from Liati Wote village.
