Hallasan

Hallasan is a shield volcano that forms the bulk of Jeju Island and is the highest point in South Korea, topped by the Baengnokdam crater lake. Its lower flanks are studded with roughly 360 smaller volcanic cones (oreum), and the whole massif is protected as Hallasan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve site. The mountain is a national symbol and one of Korea's three sacred peaks, climbed as a full-day hike rather than a technical ascent.

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
