Guadalupe Peak

Guadalupe Peak is the highest point in Texas, rising more than 3,000 feet above the Chihuahuan Desert floor within Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Its summit is marked by a stainless-steel pyramid placed by American Airlines in 1958 to commemorate the centennial of the Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach route. Most visitors reach the top via a well-maintained but strenuous 8.4-mile round-trip trail from the Pine Springs Trailhead, a hike commonly called 'The Top of Texas.'

How we verified this

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
