The highest peak in the Teton Range and the dramatic centerpiece of Grand Teton National Park, the Grand Teton rises abruptly more than 7,000 feet above the valley floor of Jackson Hole with almost no foothills, giving it one of the most striking profiles of any mountain in the United States. It is a mecca for American alpine climbing, popularized since the 1930s by the Exum Mountain Guides school and climbed by thousands of people a year via moderate technical routes.
