Cerro de Punta is Puerto Rico's highest point, a cloud-wrapped summit in the Cordillera Central on the boundary between Jayuya and Ponce, within the Toro Negro State Forest. Unlike most island highpoints, it's road-accessible almost to the very top via PR-143, part of the scenic Ruta Panorámica, with radio and TV transmission towers clustered near the summit and an observation platform offering views that can stretch over 75 miles to San Juan on a clear day. Hikers who want more than a roadside summit can instead climb through Toro Negro's cloud forest on trails from Hacienda Gripiñas, gaining the peak the traditional way.

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
