Brasstown Bald is Georgia's highest point, a grassy 'bald' summit in the Blue Ridge Mountains topped by a U.S. Forest Service observation tower with panoramic views into four states on a clear day. Unlike most state highpoints, it's a genuine drive-up destination: visitors park at the Brasstown Bald Visitor Information Center and either walk a steep 0.6-mile paved trail or ride a shuttle to the summit tower. The mountain's English name comes from a mistranslation of its Cherokee name, and it remains one of the most-visited summits in the Southeast.

Elevation, prominence, coordinates and first-ascent facts are checked against published references and official sources. Where a fact isn't clearly documented, we show it as unknown rather than estimate.
